Tucson Audubon Society: Sabino Canyon Field Trip

Registration for this trip is free.

Trip Difficulty: Moderate. 3.5 mile hike loop on both road and uneven, rocky trail. Elevation gain of ~150 feet. There is a significant hill in the last mile back to the Visitor’s Center.

We will explore the beautiful Sabino Canyon Recreation Area with a focus on finding our resident desert birds and hopefully seeing some seasonal visitors. While the focus is on birding, we can also discuss other plant and animal encounters. The walking loop will include both Sonoran Desert Upland and Sabino Creek riparian area. We should be finished by 10:30 at the latest. Meet at the ramada by the Visitor’s Center at 5700 N Sabino Canyon Rd.

Requires National Recreation area parking fee of $8 per car or Interagency Recreational Pass. Highly recommend a sunhat, water, snack, and sensible walking shoes.

Beginning birders welcome. Limited to 10 participants.
