Tucson Audubon Society: Introduction to Sonoran Desert Birds – Sabino Canyon Field Trip

An exploration of less-traveled trails at Sabino Canyon for beginning birders or visitors who want to learn about common birds in the Sonoran Desert. We’ll identify birds by shape, sound, color, and behavior and make connections between the birds and native habitats.

We’ll walk at a leisurely pace for about 2 miles on trails that are uneven and rocky in places.

Bring a sunhat, drinking water and wear sturdy walking shoes.

Sabino Canyon requires a National Recreation area parking fee of $8 per car or an Interagency Recreation Pass.

Meet at the Sabino Canyon Overflow Parking lot. The overflow parking area is accessed by taking Sabino Canyon Road about ¼ mile past the main entrance. Take a right and follow the road to the parking area at the end.
