Tucson Audubon Society: ARAVAIPA ROAD Field Trip
Trip difficulty: Easy. Mostly car birding with some walking on varied surfaces
This scenic drive towards the Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness travels through rural residential areas, stunning Sonoran Desert and riparian sites, hosting a variety of resident desert species, as well as neo-tropic migrants and summer residents. Past trips have showcased gray and common black hawks, roadrunners, desert-nesting purple martins, a blue heron rookery, orioles, flycatchers and tanagers. Meeting place and carpooling logistics will be determined a few days before the trip.
