Town of Gilbert: Butterflies and Dragonflies for Beginners (#30090)
The Gilbert Riparian Preserve is home to a wide variety of butterflies, dragonflies, and damselflies.
Join Laurie Nessel from the Maricopa Audubon Society on a walk to learn to identify local butterflies including Painted Lady, Queen, and Fiery Skipper as well as common dragonflies and damselflies such as Western Pondhawk, Flame Skimmer, Blue-ringed Dancer, and Familiar Bluet. Participants will each receive an identification checklist.
This is an easy, slow-paced walk lasting 1-1.5 hours. All ages are welcome. The group will meet at the Rattlesnake Ramada. Bring binoculars (close-focus preferred) if they are available to you. Please bring water and wear sun protection, including a hat.
