The University of Arizona: Building an Understanding of Fractional Operations Using Blocks & Rods (MMMS)

Fractions are one of the most challenging concepts for students to truly understand — and yet, they are foundational for future success in mathematics. This hour-long “Making Manipulatives Make Sense” session investigates how pattern blocks and Cuisenaire rods can help students build deep, lasting understandings of fractional concepts, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

*No registration is required. Drop-ins are welcome!

**If possible, please have a physical set of the featured manipulatives available during the session.
