Tempe Public Library: Winter Garden Abundance and Soil Health through Composting

Winter is a wonderful time to plant in the low desert!

Come explore some of the cool season vegetables that are proven “winners” for the beginner to advanced backyard gardener.  In addition, we will discuss an easy way to utilize both green and brown garden waste that will benefit your soil and your future plantings.  Come with questions and ideas about what you might like to plant, harvest, and enjoy!

The presenter, Jamie McBride, completed her Master Gardener certification in 2022 and continues to remain active within the Valley gardening community. She is a member of the Desert Botanical Garden and the Phoenix Zoo, and her yard has been designated a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National and Arizona Wildlife Federation. Jamie volunteers with the Blue Watermelon Project, helping to educate and inspire children to grow, eat, and enjoy a garden harvest!
