Tempe Public Library: Reading and Writing about Wildlife to Improve Literacy

Learn how to improve literacy in children K-12 by teaching them to write about wildlife! 

Are you a teacher or a home schooler?  Learn how to improve literacy in children K-12 by teaching them to write about wildlife!  Join educators from the Arizona Game and Fish Department as we focus on improving literacy within the science classroom. We will explore classroom-ready activities that will have teachers effectively integrate reading and writing into their instruction. We will look at both fiction and nonfiction texts as well as various writing strategies. Primary content will focus on wildlife, habitats and ecology. Activities have been designed with the Arizona academic standards in mind.  Participants will receive numerous resources and a certificate for 5.5 hours of professional development credit.
