Prescott Audubon Society: Window on Nature Presents: The Verde is for the Birds!
Presented by Dr. Nancy Steele, Executive Director of the Friends of the Verde River
Running for about 190 miles from Chino Valley through Yavapai Co., the Verde merges into the Salt River outside of Phoenix. Drawing its source waters from the Chino groundwater basin, the Verde is increasingly impacted by drought, climate change, and groundwater pumping. Dr. Steele will talk about the importance of a healthy, flowing Verde River system for birds and other wildlife and for our communities. She will describe some of the actions you can take to ensure the health of our river into the future.
Programs begin with a half-hour meet-and-greet at 6:30 PM. The talks begin at 7PM.
