Mesa Public Library: Spring Equinox in the Monarch Garden

Families are welcome at the Monarch Haven and Reading Sanctuary at Red Mountain Library to celebrate the spring equinox. Southwest Monarch Study will share their expertise about monarch butterflies in Arizona. The library will also provide crafts for kids to enjoy.

The spring equinox occurs when the sun crosses the equator line, heading north. This event marks the start of spring season in the northern hemisphere. For Mesa, the official spring equinox occurs on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 2:01 A.M.

This program supports the City of Mesa’s Climate Action Plan (MCAP), a Mayor and Council priority initiative to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, build resilience in our community, and address the negative outcomes of a changing climate.
