Mesa Arts Center: Solarplate Printmaking

Explore the possibilities safe and environmental friendly way of printing from light sensitive photo polymer solar plates by using direct sunlight without the need of harmful chemicals. Solarplate is a process of printing from light sensitive photopolymer steel plate after its been exposed to artificial UV light or sunlight. This technique of printmaking allows possibilities of creating final print with different tonal values and fine details which can be achieved from a single plate. Artist can use hand drawn images, monoprints and found objects. It is beginning friendly as well as those who have been working with printmaking for a while
