McDowell Sonoran Conservancy: Walk Like a Tortoise Educational Walk at Brown’s Ranch Trailhead

Location: Brown’s Ranch Trailhead – 30301 N. Alma School Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85262

Skill level: Easy

Distance: ~1 mile

Time: ~2 hours

Join us as we learn about and look for signs of the Sonoran Desert tortoise. This leisurely walk on the Jane Rau Trail will give us plenty of time to tell stories about the tortoise. We will talk about their history, how they survive, how they play host to so many other animals, and the research that the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy is doing with them.

Pets are not permitted at our activities due to safety concerns. If you would like to request an accommodation for your service animal, please contact our office at least two weeks before the event you plan to attend.

The difficulty of hikes varies. Please choose hikes that match your fitness level. Restrooms are available at the trailheads. Bring Water and snacks for the trail. Arrive 15 minutes before the start of the hike.
