
McDowell Sonoran Conservancy: Hunter/Gatherers – Educational Walk
Welcome! Join us for a guided adventure in the beautiful McDowell Sonoran Preserve. We have something for everyone. The Conservancy relies on the generosity of donors to support our conservation efforts in the Preserve. Your contributions help us mitigate invasive species, restore burned areas, and monitor wildlife to identify current and future threats. To participate, we suggest a minimum donation of $10 per person, but feel free to give what you feel is appropriate. Join our expert Archaeologist as we explore the challenges of the Archaic hunter and gatherer to survive and thrive in the Sonoran Desert of 2,000 years ago. See important desert flora and fauna, hunting sites and their importance to the survival of an Archaic band. This easy walk covers 0.5 miles over about 2 hours.
Our hikes explore the more remote areas of the Preserve. The difficulty of the hikes varies. Please come prepared and choose hikes that match your fitness level. Activities begin promptly at the start time, please arrive 15 minutes before the start to prepare and check-in.
