Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Wildflower Walk – Session 1

Join Ranger Nikki to search for and learn about wildflowers and flowering shrubs.

Ranger Nikki will lead you on an easy to moderate terrain 2-mile walk to learn about common spring wildflowers and flowering shrubs. Possible sightings include fiddleneck, poppies, lupine, scorpionweed, brittlebush, globemallow and more! You can also learn how to document your findings on the citizen science app, iNaturalist. The route will be an out-and-back walk on Cinch or Stoneman Wash Trails depending on flower coverage. The trail surface ranges from smooth and level to rocky and uneven. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water. Bring a camera and notebook to log your observations. This walk has two sessions: 8:30-10:30am and 11am-1pm. Please indicate your session preference when registering. Restrooms and water are available at the Trailhead.

MEETING LOCATION: Four Peaks Staging Area just past the entry booth.

Limit 20 participants. To register, please email nikki.bunnell@maricopa.gov with the Session number, your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email the ranger ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
