Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Welcome to the Sonoran Desert
Make it your New Year’s resolution to get connected with nature! This introduction to the Sonoran Desert is perfect for residents and visitors alike. We’ll be walking 2.9-miles on the North Trail while talking about what makes our desert quite possibly the most biodiverse desert on Earth. We’ll also be stopping to observe various plants and animals along the way, and dive into the amazing adaptations these desert dwellers have developed that allow them to thrive here. Trail is rated easy, with very little loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water. Hats and sunscreen are also recommended. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. NO pets, please.
