Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Statehood Day Hike
Learn about some of the plants and animals in our desert on a hike with Ranger Nikki. Depending on winter rains, there may be signs of sprouting wildflowers that give a preview of things to come later in the season. We will also see a variety of cacti, trees, shrubs, mammals and birds that thrive in our extreme environment. The route follows San Tan, Hedgehog and Moonlight Trails for a 4.5 loop and is rated as easy to moderate, with terrain ranging from flat and level to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and snacks. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.
