Join Ranger Kevin for an approximately 3-mile hike on the Spur Cross and Dragonfly trails. Trails are rated moderate, so expect some areas of loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. We will be searching for all three kinds of scorpion native to our neck of the Sonoran Desert: Striped-tail, Bark, and, of course, the Giant Desert Hairy. Of course, we’ll also be on the lookout for nocturnal mammals, birds, and reptiles as well. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, bring plenty of water, and a flashlight. If you have a UV (black) light, feel free to bring it as well, but the Ranger will have one for spotting and highlighting scorpions. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. No pets, please.

MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross Trailhead (past entry station near portable restrooms and covered picnic tables).
