Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Scorpion Safari
Ranger Nikki will lead you on a walk to search for bark, striped-tail and giant hairy scorpions as well as other nocturnal critters such as bats, owls, tarantulas and more. The route follows Pemberton Trail northward for an out-and-back walk totaling 2-2.5 miles. The terrain is mostly level and smooth with a few areas with small rocks underfoot. Bring your blacklight and a regular flashlight. No pets, please. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Trailhead. Please bring $7 cash for the self-pay station or your annual pass to display on your vehicle.
Please note: Summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website is the best resource for verifying the program’s current status, so please check the program listing prior to departing for your scheduled program.
