Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Nature Hike – Butterflies & Blooms

Join Ranger Jacque for a hike to look for flowering plant life and a variety of pollinators, including butterflies.

Ranger Jacque will lead you on a hike to look for blooms, butterflies and other pollinators and plants! Color identification brochures provided. Discover how to document your findings on the citizen science app*, iNaturalist, and how your contributions help our local butterfly monitoring project as well as worldwide biodiversity projects. This moderate-difficult rated hike will total 3.5 miles, making a loop on the Quail, Rainbow Valley, Toothaker, Baseline, and Saddle Trails. Expect some uneven, hilly, and rocky terrain, and remember to wear sturdy close-toed shoes, bring plenty of water, and dress for the weather. Bring a phone, camera, or notebook to log your observations (optional). Well-behaved dogs on leash OK. Restrooms are available at the nature center where we will meet. *If you would like to learn how to document via iNaturalist, please download the free app at home and register with a username prior to arrival.
