Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Morning Fitness Hike

Join Ranger Derik on a heart pumping fitness hike through the rolling hills of the beautiful San Tan mountains.

This hike will cover 4.5 miles through sections of the Moonlight, San Tan, and Hedgehog trails. The route is rated as moderate and offers rolling hills with rocky and sandy trail. Hikers are encouraged to check the weather and dress accordingly. Its September so it will still be hot so make sure to pre hydrate the day before the hike and bring plenty of water with you. In the heat of the desert a good system is 1 liter of water for every hour or 1 liter of water for every 1.5 miles. Water and bathrooms can both be found at the nature center.

MEETING LOCATION: Moonlight trailhead, green picnic table

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 7 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 9/12/24.

Please note: Summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website is the best resource for verifying the program’s current status, so please check the program listing prior to departing for your scheduled program.
