Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Lake Pleasant Trail Maintenance
Some of our trails here at Lake Pleasant Regional Park are in need of some work after all the rain we received.
We need vegetation removal off the Morgan City Wash Trail, so we will be starting with that project. Volunteers can sign up for one, two, or all three days.
Date November 4th, 5th, and 6th
Time – 8:00 am to 12 Noon
Location – Ranger Terry will meet everyone at the lower by-pass gate at 8am. This is located on our “Closed Road”/staff by-pass road. The turn is just West of the Agua Fria bridge on Hwy74. All volunteers will need to arrive before 8am, to be let through. Please wait at the gate for the Ranger. No late arrivals!!! Please contact the Ranger at 602-506-9556, if you have any questions or need directions prior to the event.
Participants – 20
Event Description – We will be removing the vegetation from the trail, including tall grasses, cutting limbs, and moving trees that block the trail. Suggest wearing good work boots, long pants, long sleeve shirts, gloves, hat, bring insect repellent, sunscreen, and at least one full large water bottle. You can bring your own hand trimmer or ground scrapper, and the park will also provide a number of tools too. This project is heavy work, not meant for school-aged children, and includes several miles of hiking. Younger groups are encouraged to sign up for our National Public Lands Day Clean-Up Event on Sept. 25th instead.
COVID-19 precautions? We will be outside for the duration of the event. Please wear a mask if you are unable to maintain a safe social distance from others.
