Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Fitness Hike
Ranger Nikki will lead you on a moderate to difficult hike to explore our beautiful desert. The route follows the Gadsden and Butterfield Trails to make a 7.2-mile loop. The terrain is mostly uneven with rocky surfaces and has 350 feet of elevation change. This hike is focused on exercise, but we will stop for breaks and talk about nearby plants and animals. Hiking poles are recommended for the distance and terrain. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center or Rainbow Valley Trailhead (west side of the meeting area).
