Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Fitness Hike – 100 Miles in 100 Days
Are you looking to do a long hike, but can’t find anyone to go with you? Join Ranger Kevin for a challenging, 9.3-mile hike on the scenic Pemberton, Escondido, and Shallmo trails. We’ll keep an eye out for morning critters as we go. If you’re doing the 100 in 100 challenge, this is a great way to knock nearly 10% of your miles off in one day! Trail conditions are rated easy-moderate, so expect some loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. This is not the best hike for inexperienced or beginning hikers, but perfect for seasoned hikers. Please bring plenty of water (at least three liters recommended) and snacks, and wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear. Proper clothing (layers), sunscreen, and hat are strongly recommended. Trekking poles may be useful. It is also a good idea to leave some extra water in your vehicle for your return. Restrooms are available at the trailhead. Please, NO pets.
Meeting Location: Trailhead Staging Area (north side)
