Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Elephant Mountain Hike (Strenuous)
The hike to Elephant Mountain is rated as strenuous and will take on average 5.5 hours to complete. The trail will cover 8 miles and gain 1100ft of elevation gain you should expect sustained incline on rocky and at some points loose trail. It is recommended that participants carry 3-4 liters of water and a snack or two for this hike. The park does not have water so make sure to plan ahead and bring plenty with you. It is also a good idea to have some water in your car for the end of the hike. Please make sure to wear hiking boots and if you have balance or stability difficulty trekking poles are a great help. There are porta Johns but no flush toilets in the park.

If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 10/3/24.
