Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Discovery Station – Intro to Desert Safety and Lake Safety
Take a break from the sun and the heat and visit Ranger Derik in the Discovery Center to learn how to stay safe on the trails and on the water at Lake Pleasant.
The park can be beautiful but with high temperatures and large expanses of open water it pays to be safe while you are out having fun. Ranger Derik will have an example of what gear you should bring on your day hikes in the parks during the summer and will be able to provide tips and tricks to staying safe in the summer heat. Also featured will be boater safety material from Game and Fish as well as the US Coast Guard. The ranger will also be able to answer your boater safety questions and provide advice on what areas to check out while you are on the water.
