Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Discovery Station – Desert Palms

Have you ever wondered about the Preserve’s historic stand of palm trees? Then join Ranger Eric to learn about them out in the palm grove!  

Join Ranger Eric to learn about the Preserve’s historic stand of California fan palms, how these tropical trees are able to grow in the desert Southwest, and their importance to both wildlife and indigenous cultures. Did you know that these palms were sourced from a native population in Arizona? Find out more!

MEETING LOCATION: Picnic area near start of trails near Visitor Center.

No registration required. Just show up between 11:00am-1:00pm!

Visit the Preserve from 9:00am-12:00pm for our Open House at the Visitor Center where you can learn even more about this desert oasis and its rich history! The entry fee will be waived for those attending during the Open House.
