Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Desert Edible Plants Hike

Hike the Pipeline Trail with Ranger Derik to learn about the many plants that can be eaten in the desert and about the native peoples that first harvested them.

We will hike 2.5 miles out and back of the pipeline canyon trail starting from the cottonwood day use area. The trail is rated as moderate and will have sandy, rocky, and uneven sections so please wear proper footwear and if you need them trekking poles are not a bad idea. Make sure to bring water on the hike as well as a snack. Bathrooms are available at the trailhead you will need to bring your own water.

MEETING LOCATION: Cottonwood Day Use Area accessed from the North Entrance. If the parking lot by the restrooms is full, you can park in the picnic area parking nearby. See park map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/lake-pleasant-8×111.pdf

Limit 20 participants. To register, please email Ranger Derik at derik.rodgers@maricopa.gov with your name, phone number and number of people attending.
