Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Desert 101 Hike
What makes a cactus a cactus? How can plants survive scorching temperatures? Can you eat Cactus? To get the answers to these questions and more…join Ranger Steve for a short (2.5 mile) hike along the easy terrain of the Pemberton Trail to examine numerous species of plants, shrubs, and cactus that call the Sonoran Desert home. While out, you may even get lucky and see some wildlife! This hike, while rated “easy,” does have some rocky and uneven sections, though mostly flat. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Registration is required.
