Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Creatures of the Night Walk
Enjoy a roughly 2.5-mile night hike on the easy terrain of the Slate and Flume Trails with Ranger Steve. We’ll be searching for nocturnal Sonoran Desert wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, and more! Please wear hard-soled shoes or boots, bring plenty of water, and don’t forget a flashlight or UV light if you have one! Trails are rated easy, but there still may be some rocky and/or uneven terrain, though the hike is mostly flat. Restrooms are available at the trailhead, but water is not. Please bring your own. Please, no pets.
MEETING LOCATION: We’ll meet at the Slate Trailhead (NOTE: do not use Google to navigate to this—it’ll take you somewhere else. If you need to use navigation, navigate to the Cave Creek Nature Center. Keep going past the Nature Center, take a left onto Tonalite, and then take the first right and park near the first bathroom.
Limit 12 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending.
