Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Creatures of the Morning Hike

Enjoy a 2.6-mile hike on the Cottonwood Trail with Ranger Kevin as we look for all kinds of wildlife along the way. Some animals we may see include mule deer, javelina, squirrels, rabbits, birds and perhaps a reptile or two. Trail is rated easy, with very little loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Restrooms are available near the Nature Center. No pets, please.

MEETING LOCATION: Cottonwood Day Use Area/Trailhead, accessed from the North Entrance. If the parking lot by the restrooms is full, you can park in the picnic area parking nearby. See park map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/lake-pleasant-8×111.pdf

Limit 20 participants. To register, please email Ranger Kevin at kevin.thorson@maricopa.gov with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 2/21/24.
