Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Connecting with Nature Class

Did you make it your New Year’s Resolution to spend more time in nature? Join Ranger Kevin for an introduction to the skills needed to enhance your connection with the natural world.

Make it your New Year’s resolution to get connected with nature! Join Ranger Kevin as we learn how to make – or strengthen – our connection with nature through the practice of Silent Walking and Sit Spots. This is a beginner’s level class, so anyone who is interested in learning how to observe and appreciate the natural world in greater depth is welcome. We will learn to relax, change our mindset, and use our senses to see the Sonoran Desert in a whole new way. This program includes walks on the Spur Cross and Fairy Duster trails, which is rated easy with very little loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Please wear closed-toed shoes, and bring water. Hats and sunscreen are recommended. Restrooms are available near the trailhead, but water is not available in the park. Please, NO pets.

MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross trailhead

Please note: Entry to Spur Cross Conservation Area is $3 per person. Cash only is accepted, and exact change is appreciated. If entry station is closed, please place your money in the payment box at the gate.
