Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: 100 Miles in 100 Days Nature Hike
Come learn about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem and its flora and fauna while hiking a 7.3-mile loop of segments of the Toothaker, Gadsden, Coldwater, and Butterfield trails with Ranger Eric! We will meet at the southwest corner of the Arena area parking at the Rainbow Valley Trailhead. Restrooms and a water bottle filling station are available here. The trails we will be hiking are rated as moderate-difficult, with parts of the trail having uneven and rocky surfaces. Please dress in layers, wear protective clothing or sunblock for sun exposure, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water (at least 3 liters of water recommended), electrolytes, and snacks for yourself. For those of you participating in the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge (Nov. 1-Feb. 8), this is a great way to hike towards your goal! Hike may take 5-6 hours, possibly less.
