SUMMARY:Nerding: Diggin' Dinos - Stones\, Bones & Paleontology
DESCRIPTION:Are you a budding Paleontologist? Study the past through fossils! Touch real fossils and create model fossils of your own! Learn about types of dinosaurs\, how they lived\, and what might have happened to them. \nYou’ll build a time machine and go on an ancient safari to try to spot a totally real (not at all a person in a costume!) T-Rex somewhere on campus. Then you can study it and record your observations in your field journal. WARNING: Don’t forget to turn OFF the time-machine! \nWe will even conduct our own dino dig! Can you help us safely excavate our site and figure out what kind of dinosaur we have discovered? This class can be messy. Dress appropriately! \n  \nGrades 1 – 3 \nJuly 6 – July 10

SUMMARY:Nerding: Kawaii Art Mart - Pop-Up Shop (Grades 1 - 3)
DESCRIPTION:This is a NEW CLASS\, so we are working on photos\, but your teacher\, Mrs. Warwick (art teacher extraordinaire) is in the photos. Just look at her! You know this class will be delightful! Oh\, and FYI: BOYS love this class too! \nInspired by the kawaii art movement and the Pop Mart blind box craze\, this class is a week-long creative adventure where students design\, craft\, and curate their own collection of cute trinkets\, wearables\, and collectibles. The big project: each student builds their own DIY claw machine. \nThroughout the week\, kids fill their machines with handmade items like clay figures\, shrinky dink keychains\, beaded bracelets\, and more. The class culminates in a pop-up shop experience with student-designed store signage\, decorated shopping bags with custom stamps\, button name tags\, and more. \nOn showcase day\, parents receive play money to ‘shop’ at the kids’ stores and try the claw machines! Every project ties back to a real art form or design concept\, from Japanese kawaii culture to iconography\, stamp-making\, and basic entrepreneurship. \n  \nGrades 1 – 3 \nJuly 6 – July 10

SUMMARY:Nerding: Drone Coding
DESCRIPTION:BEHAVIOR NOTE: This class is incredibly fun\, but drones are not chaos-powered toys. Students must stay calm\, follow directions immediately\, and treat the equipment\, instructors\, and each other with respect at all times. Unsafe\, reckless\, or overly silly behavior means a student will be grounded and will sit out of flying activities until they are ready to rejoin safely. \nCode it. Fly it. Land it. In this exciting hands-on drone class\, students will learn to pilot and program real codable drones through high-energy\, mission-based challenges. Using block-based coding\, they will control flight paths\, altitude\, speed\, turns\, and precision maneuvers while taking on scenarios inspired by real-world drone applications like search and rescue\, scientific exploration\, mapping\, and disaster response. \nAs students build their skills\, they will learn how coding and flight work together to solve problems\, complete objectives\, and improve accuracy. They will practice sequencing\, troubleshooting\, spatial awareness\, and control techniques while testing programs\, adjusting flight patterns\, and improving performance with each mission. Along the way\, they will discover tips and strategies for smoother takeoffs\, more precise landings\, better navigation\, and stronger mission planning. \nThis class is perfect for students who love technology\, robotics\, coding\, and hands-on challenges. By the end\, they will have a stronger understanding of drone operation\, block-based programming\, and real-world STEM applications\, along with the confidence to code\, fly\, and problem-solve like a drone pilot and engineer. \n  \nGrades 4 – 7 \nJuly 6 – July 10

SUMMARY:Nerding: Advanced 3D Printing & Design with Blender
DESCRIPTION:Step up from TinkerCAD into professional 3D modeling with Blender\, the free\, industry-standard software used by real artists\, game designers\, and animators. Design characters\, objects\, and scenes\, and take home a 3D print of your creation. \nFor students ready to go beyond TinkerCAD\, this class introduces Blender\, the same free\, open-source 3D modeling software used by professional artists\, game developers\, and animators. Students learn to navigate 3D space\, model with meshes and vertices\, use path tools for organic shapes\, apply modifiers\, and understand concepts like topology and computational complexity. \nStudents who have maxed out TinkerCAD’s capabilities will find Blender opens up a whole new world of creative control with real curves\, precise vertex editing\, and professional-grade tools. Projects culminate in at least one 3D print you will take home\, while other designs will be more experimental and complex digital renders. \n  \nGrades 6 – 9 \nJuly 6 – July 10
