SUMMARY:Embry - Riddle Aeronautical University: Diamond Flight Summer Camp [Bravo]
DESCRIPTION:“Diamond Flight” is a three-day immersive discovery flight “team experience” for a parent (or guardian) and their student. \nParent/guardian participation in all camp activities (including flight) is mandatory for minors to participate. \nDesigned to provide introductory flight training\, the program is presented in three components across three days: Live flight training in beautiful north central Arizona; Aviation related knowledge topics (Weather\, Air Traffic Management\, Safety Analysis\, Night Operations\, Cross Country Operations) presented in an easy-to-understand format and a simulated flight in a synthetic reality environment. \nThe team of one parent (or guardian) and child will enjoy dedicated one on one instruction in our Diamond DA42 “TwinStar” aircraft. These “TwinStars” are twin-engine aircraft and are all equipped with the latest in advanced avionics (Garmin G1000 System). In addition\, each team will also get to try their hand at flying our twin engine DA42 FRASCA simulator. Your experience will be facilitated by a member of the instruction team at every point to ensure a safe and exciting time in the air and on the ground. \nThe complete program includes \n(Student flies 100% of time – no sharing flight time) \n\nHands-on flight time in our DA-42s consisting of three flights – one day local orientation flight\, a cross country flight to a destination airport\, and one night flight to greater Phoenix area!\nGround instruction by an FAA Certified Flight Instructor in preparation and debrief for your fight time\nGroup education in aviation related topics\nFlight time in the FRASCA DA42″TwinStar” Flight Simulator\nLogbook certifying flight instruction that can be used toward your aviation career goals\nPer TSA guidelines\, US citizenship is required for a student to participate in this flight training course.\n\nWeight: Maximum combined weight of participants cannot exceed 450 lbs. \n*Flight hours are not guaranteed due to unforeseen circumstances\, such as weather. DESCRIPTION:Children will build and take home a miniature planetarium. \nFun and Learning with STEAM \nCreated for children ages 3 to 6\, these activity-based\, hands-on camps explore science and include STEAM elements. Camps are usually held on the first and third Saturdays of each month unless otherwise noted. DESCRIPTION:Sitting in the Highlands Center ramada while the wind rustles through the ponderosa pine needles and a robin chirps\, there is a moment of silent contemplation. Natural history is complicated – personal and universal at the same time. Our Natural History book club met beginning in 2021 and the discussions occasionally resulted in these special moments of quiet thoughtfulness. \nWe’re excited to continue to offer this free and open to the public program. Reading is something on many of our “to-do” lists\, but some of us need a little extra incentive\, like having a group that meets monthly to discuss. This group focuses on books related to natural history\, with some southwestern component\, written in the last decade or so. Books are selected by the group and then sold in the Benson Family Nature Store. We take our time reading – two months for each book. And we encourage personal connections\, as well as universal questioning\, when we come together for our meetings. SUMMARY:Lowell Observatory: Orbits Curiosity Early Learners Camp - Constellations: Shapes & Stories
DESCRIPTION:Children will build and take home a miniature planetarium. \nFun and Learning with STEAM \nCreated for children ages 3 to 6\, these activity-based\, hands-on camps explore science and include STEAM elements. Camps are usually held on the first and third Saturdays of each month unless otherwise noted. Even though there are two classes offered per month\, the same lesson will be taught throughout a given month. \nThese 90-minute camps — led by Lowell educators — occur from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Parents can explore topics in physics and astronomy with their children. Activities include science investigations\, games\, storytime\, music\, engineering\, art\, and more! Maximum 14 children per camp. \nMembers: $20 per child\nNon-members: $25 per child \nParent attendance is MANDATORY. The prices listed are per session. You may register for one month at a time or for multiple dates. Discounts will apply for registering multiple children and/or dates. \nScholarships are available for those who demonstrate financial need. Apply here.

DESCRIPTION:Sitting in the Highlands Center ramada while the wind rustles through the ponderosa pine needles and a robin chirps\, there is a moment of silent contemplation. Natural history is complicated – personal and universal at the same time. Our Natural History book club met beginning in 2021 and the discussions occasionally resulted in these special moments of quiet thoughtfulness. \nWe’re excited to continue to offer this free and open to the public program. Reading is something on many of our “to-do” lists\, but some of us need a little extra incentive\, like having a group that meets monthly to discuss. This group focuses on books related to natural history\, with some southwestern component\, written in the last decade or so. Books are selected by the group and then sold in the Benson Family Nature Store. We take our time reading – two months for each book. And we encourage personal connections\, as well as universal questioning\, when we come together for our meetings. DESCRIPTION:Children will explore various states of matter through experiments and play. \nFun and Learning with STEAM \nCreated for children ages 3 to 6\, these activity-based\, hands-on camps explore science and include STEAM elements. Camps are usually held on the first and third Saturdays of each month unless otherwise noted. Even though there are two classes offered per month\, the same lesson will be taught throughout a given month. \nThese 90-minute camps — led by Lowell educators — occur from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Parents can explore topics in physics and astronomy with their children. Activities include science investigations\, games\, storytime\, music\, engineering\, art\, and more! Maximum 14 children per camp. \nMembers: $20 per child\nNon-members: $25 per child \nParent attendance is MANDATORY. The prices listed are per session. You may register for one month at a time or for multiple dates. DESCRIPTION:Take the first step in your astrophotography journey with an intensive course at Lowell Observatory! \nThis 2-hour program accommodates a maximum of 6 guests. Using our 17-inch Planewave CDK Telescope and QSI 683 CCD camera\, you will be taken through the process of imaging two different objects. Then\, we will teach you how to combine\, stack\, and edit the shots into full-color images using a program called Pixinsight. At the end of the course\, you’ll take home digital copies of the two images and all of the raw data to use as you like\, as well as additional resources to aid you in your astrophotography journey! \nMembers of Lowell Observatory will receive a 20% discount on their course fee.

Our tours run approximately one hour in length.
