DESCRIPTION:Explore the night skies from the summit of Mt. Lemmon using Arizona’s LARGEST publicly available telescopes!  \n\n\nUnder the guidance of a professional\, visitors will enjoy a brief astronomy lecture\, a light dinner\, and an exclusive opportunity to observe astronomical objects and phenomena.  This five-hour program starts 2 hours before sunset and accommodates up to 28 people.  A minimum age of 7 is required for our attendees. \nMt Lemmon is located at 9\,157ft in elevation and is on average 20-30 degrees colder than Tucson – yes\, even in Spring and Summer. Guests are responsible for being aware of the weather and providing appropriate clothing for our cold adventure. Remember to wear comfortable closed-toed shoes. \n Our programs are weather dependent\, and we contact you on the morning of the program to confirm or cancel. \n*Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.  *Early departures cannot be accommodated.  *No alcohol or tobacco/vape products are allowed on-site. \n\n\n\nYouth (7-17): $62.50\n\n\nAdult: $88.50

DESCRIPTION:This trip is intended for beginning birds or Tucson visitors. We’ll move at a slow pace\, practicing identifying birds by shape\, sound\, color\, and behavior. Fort Lowell Park features diverse habitats\, including grassy fields\, a manmade pond\, an old pecan orchard\, and native trees and shrubs. Expect to see a mix of birds\, including house finches\, lesser goldfinches\, verdin\, doves\, hummingbirds\, flickers\, woodpeckers\, and a variety of waterfowl. \nMeet in the parking lot off of N. Craycroft Road (2900 N Craycroft Rd\, Tucson\, AZ 85712) \nTrip Difficulty: Easy. DESCRIPTION:Venture behind-the-scenes to meet one of the giant anteaters at Reid Park Zoo. Learn about their amazing adaptations\, how we care for these unique animals at the Zoo\, and how the Zoo supports conservation efforts in Brazil to protect this iconic species. \nNote: For animal safety\, all participants must wear N-95 or KN-95 masks for the duration of this program. The Zoo will supply masks for any participants who do not have their own. By registering for this program\, you acknowledge that you and everyone in your group will properly wear the supplied masks for the duration of the program. \nAge:\nAll participants must be 5 or older and at least one adult must attend. \nTime: Tours begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. (unless stated otherwise). \nThis is a 30 minute experience. Latecomers are unable to join a program already in session. \nPrice:\n$35 per person (Zoo members: $30\, you must log in to receive the discount\, which will be applied AFTER you click “add to cart”) \nGuests should plan to arrive at the entrance of the Zoo at least 10 minutes early. The educator will meet the group near the peacock statue at the front of the Zoo. \nPlease keep in mind that all of our animals have the ability to express choice and control and may decide not to participate in the experience.

DESCRIPTION:During this 60-minute adventure\, you will learn how Reid Park Zoo uses proper nutrition and health care to provide quality\, whole-life care to its animal residents. \nYour experience includes visits to the Animal Health Center\, Zoo kitchen\, and rhino habitat. During this program\, you will discover the importance of animal training for completing daily health checkups\, and the high quality care we provide to the animals at the Zoo. \nAge:\nAll participants must be 5 or older and at least one adult must attend. \nTime: Tours begin promptly at 10:00 am (unless stated otherwise). \nThis is a 60 minute experience. Latecomers are unable to join a program already in session. \nPrice:\n$55 per person (Zoo members: $50\, you must log in to receive the discount\, which will be applied AFTER you click “add to cart”) \nGuests should plan to arrive at the entrance of the Zoo at least 10 minutes early. The educator will meet the group near the peacock statue at the front of the Zoo. \nPlease keep in mind that all of our animals have the ability to express choice and control and the rhino may decide not to participate in the experience.

SUMMARY:Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Spur Cross - Invasive Species Removal
DESCRIPTION:Desert Defender volunteers needed! Join us in removing invasive species and reducing the wildfire risk in Maricopa County Regional Parks.\n\nParticipants will learn to identify several invasive species\, their phenology and characteristics\, and how to remove these invasive plants effectively.  Meet at the Main Parking Lot. \nThe goal is to remove invasive plants as a proactive step towards ecological habitat enhancement and to reduce wildfire risk. \nPlease bring work gloves\, water\, and a snack. Wear a long-sleeved shirt\, pants\, and closed-toed shoes. This event includes hiking on natural trails. Participants must be 13 years or older to participate in these events. If you are 13-17\, you will need to be accompanied by an adult\, or you will need to be accompanied by a waiver and transportation provided by an adult. \nNote:  We reserve the right to cancel at least one day before. If canceled\, email notifications will go to the registrants. \nParticipants who attend four or more Desert Defenders will receive a Desert Defender neon yellow t-shirt and become part of our Desert Defender Community. Please let the leader of your 3rd event know when your fourth event is and your size\, we will do our best to coordinate to have your T-shirt at the park for the event. \nIf the event requires a hike that is steep mountain climb or more than 3 miles of hiking\, the registered participants will be notified at least 2 days before the event. \nWe appreciate corporate-sponsored events. On this field trip we will explore one of Tucson’s best birding sites: Sweetwater Wetlands. We’ll take our time enjoying all the birds and wildlife including ducks\, songbirds\, reptiles\, insects\, and whatever else we can find! All levels of birders are welcome from brand new beginner to experienced. Binoculars are available to borrow for anyone who wants them. \nSweetwater Wetlands is located at 2511 W Sweetwater Dr\, Tucson\, AZ \nTrip difficulty: Easy; Walking distance: 1.3 miles\, Trip Duration: 2-2.5 hours\, Elevation gain: None; Ground condition: Groomed gravel trails with some uneven surfaces. DESCRIPTION:Come view the stars during the Arizona SciTech Festival! \nFun for the whole family\, located at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve. \nEast Valley Astronomy Club members staff operations and programming for the Observatory. \nThe observatory houses a 16-inch diameter Meade\, modified Richey-Cretien scope\, guided by a Paramount ME computer controlled German equatorial mount slaved to The Sky professional computer program. SRP contributed all funding for this state-of-the-art scope. \nCost is free\, but donations welcome.
