HeatSync Labs: Laser Cut Tombstones and DISTRESSING

Custom laser cut tombstones can cost hundreds of dollars.

This class will help you go way beyond what most of us can do with an X-Acto knife and soldering iron to make detailed and beautiful tombstones!

Part 1 of the class is a demonstration of the laser cutting and engraving.  We will do a quick overview of how the machine works and demonstrate cutting and engraving a tombstone right before your eyes!  We will also provide information on becoming lab-certified to use the laser cutter yourself!

Part 2 is DISTRESSING the tombstones.  MOST of the tombstones will be cut and engraved before the meetup, so we will be able to move on to distressing.  This will include various effects with tools, brushes, sandpaper, etc.

Participants who order multiple tombstones may only have time to distress one. You’ll be able to take your newfound knowledge home and finish the others as you wish!

How this will work:

1. You register for however many tombstones you like.  If more than 4, you may simply get more than one ticket that adds up to your preferred number.
2. You will get an email asking you to choose a tombstone profile and graphic from a list.  You will also be asked to provide the transcription you wish.  Remember – the shorter the transcription, the larger the font can be.
3. On the day of the meetup, your pre-cut and engraved tombstones will (probably) be ready for distressing. We reserve the right to save some for the demonstration.  🙂
4. If you have more than one stone, choose one to finish in-class.  We will give an overview of the techniques, then begin working.
5. If you just want to take your unfinished stones and go, then of course that is fine.  Let us know when choosing your stones.
6. Tombstones will be around 22″-24″ tall, and up to 16″ wide.  That’s a little taller than the Tombstone trophies we present at the AZ Haunters Awards.  By a startling coincidence, this is the perfect height to use with the tombstone poppers we made in June.
7. AZ Haunters is unable to provide refunds.  If for some reason you cannot be at the meetup as scheduled, you will have two weeks to arrange to pick up your tombstones.  Due to the nature of the class, we will not be able to provide additional materials or instruction in that case.
