Flagstaff Festival of Science: Plein Air in Open Spaces

Outdoor drawing and painting–focused on observing the natural world around us. Flagstaff Open Spaces has art supplies and easels available for free. Participants will be encouraged to enter their artwork to be displayed for First Friday Art Walk on 10/6/2023, and visitors at First Friday will vote for their favorite artwork in each age category.

All ages and abilities are welcome!

The Flagstaff Festival of Science is pleased to present “The Mammoth World of Science” September 22- October 1, 2023! The Festival features 10-days of engaging events and programs, all free, for the community to enjoy and celebrate the wonders of science!

This year’s theme has been designed to showcase the fascinating research and scientific discovery of Beth Shapiro, PhD.

The Festival offers a wide variety of presentations, hands-on workshops, interactive discussions, classroom talks and guided tours led by outstanding Flagstaff scientists and STEAM professionals. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to learn about ancient cultures, the environment of the Colorado Plateau, wildlife, astronomy and biology, as well as many topics at the intersection of the sciences and the arts.

Festival events highlight the innovative research happening right here in Flagstaff! Events are held in a variety of venues and institutions throughout northern Arizona.
