Flagstaff Festival of Science: A Mammoth Science Ballet

Preceding the W. L. Gore & Associates Keynote Presentation, this performance—inspired by de-extinction science and the work of keynote speaker Beth Shapiro, Ph.D.—will feature waltzing mammoths and pirouetting black-footed ferrets. Tickets are required. The ballet, performed by NAU Community Music and Dance Academy, will not be live-streamed.

Part of the Flagstaff Festival of Science 🎉

The Flagstaff Festival of Science is pleased to present “The Mammoth World of Science” September 22- October 1, 2023! The Festival features 10-days of engaging events and programs, all free, for the community to enjoy and celebrate the wonders of science!

This year’s theme has been designed to showcase the fascinating research and scientific discovery of Beth Shapiro, PhD.

The Festival offers a wide variety of presentations, hands-on workshops, interactive discussions, classroom talks and guided tours led by outstanding Flagstaff scientists and STEAM professionals. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to learn about ancient cultures, the environment of the Colorado Plateau, wildlife, astronomy and biology, as well as many topics at the intersection of the sciences and the arts.

Festival events highlight the innovative research happening right here in Flagstaff! Events are held in a variety of venues and institutions throughout northern Arizona.
