Flagstaff City – Coconino County Public Library: Meet us at the trailhead
Join us as we explore Walnut Canyon Overlook. Located on the edge of Walnut Canyon, this stretch will take us out then back ~2.5 miles along the Arizona Trail (for a total of 5 miles). This part of the trail has rocky sections, and descends into then climbs out of a small side canyon.
For this hike, you will need transportation to and from the trailhead, water, snacks, sun protection, and shoes for hiking. No dogs on this adventure please.
How to get to the trailhead: from Flagstaff, take I-40 east to Walnut Canyon Road (Exit 204). Go right (south) 2.4 miles (the road becomes FR 622) then turn right (west) onto FR 303; go 1.6 miles to the signed trailhead. Note that the last 1/4 mile of FR is a bit bumpy!
Please note that this event will be canceled if the forest is closed to public access.
