Desert Foothills Land Trust: Movie Night – Cactus Hotel

Join Desert Foothills Land Trust for a special outdoor screening of “Cactus Hotel” under the desert stars. Inspired by the beloved children’s book “Welcome to the Cactus Hotel,” the film follows the life of one towering saguaro and the community of desert creatures who depend on it. Watch as Gila woodpeckers carve out nesting holes, elf owls move into vacant rooms, and countless other species find food and shelter in this prickly high-rise. With daily “check-ins” and “check-outs,” the cactus becomes a hub of desert life—part apartment building, part restaurant, part refuge.

Set against the backdrop of Carefree Desert Gardens Pavilion, this family-friendly film offers a fresh take on the Sonoran Desert that’s entertaining for all ages. Proceeds benefit Desert Foothills Land Trust’s mission to preserve and protect the Sonoran Desert.
