Desert Botanical Garden: Nature and Ecology – Harvesting Mesquite

Learn how to identify mesquite, when and how to ethically harvest, how to dry and store, and how to make drinks and mill into flour at home.

Honey, Velvet, Screwbean and other varieties will be discussed. Instructor Kelly Athena ‘Cactus Kelly’ will do a demonstration of grinding the beans into a delicious flour. Enjoy a guided tour of mesquite trees in the Garden and a light picnic of mesquite treats. Garden admission included.
