City of Chandler: The Nature of Things Speaker Series – Monarchs & Pollinators (#2NC624)
Join skilled storytellers for a cup of coffee and candid conversation that entertains, educates, and encourages a sense of wonder about science and the natural world around us. The monthly speaker series hosts guest lecturers with coffee and refreshments provided.
Insect populations are declining globally at a rapid rate due to many factors, including the loss of nectar and breeding habitat, and pesticide use. There are many actions you can easily take within your community to support insects and their vital functions in our urban and wildlands ecosystems. Natalie Melkonoff, Plant and Insect Ecology Program Manager at Desert Botanical Garden, will share information about monarch butterflies, other insects, and how to create habitat in your community that supports these important creatures.
