Math:
- Developing geometry skills by organizing and building with materials of different shapes and sizes
- Identifying principles of architecture and engineering while making a stable base for the Thing-a-ma-jigs
- Learning spatial awareness and patterns while creating the structure
- Understanding the importance of incorporating space and area while trying to create room for a particular material
Arts:
- Designing develops creativity and problem-solving skills as children envision their Thing-a-ma-jigs and navigate design challenges
Science:
- Experimenting with different materials involves the scientific method of experimenting, observing, and exploring cause and effect
- Discussing how materials are recycled introduces earth science and can start a conversation about reducing, reusing, and recycling at home
