SUMMARY:LFDT Phoenix: Enabling Anyone to Build and Operate Decentralized Networks with Hiero
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a meetup exploring Hiero (https://github.com/hiero-ledger)\, an open-source\, vendor-neutral distributed ledger technology (DLT) stack that powers the Hedera Network. In this session\, Hendrik Ebbers (https://github.com/hendrikebbers) will demonstrate how easy it is to deploy a Hiero-based network for either public or private use. \nThe live demo will show how to spin up a network and build a simple application that connects to it using one of the available SDKs. Attendees will learn how an application communicates with the network and submits transactions in real time. \nThis meetup is ideal for developers interested in learning how to deploy decentralized networks and build applications that interact with them using Hiero. \nPlease note: This event is being shared with our entire global community. If you’re interested in this content but can’t attend the event live\, feel free to sign up and we will send you a link to the recording after the meetup is over. \n\n\n\nSpeaker\n\n\nHendrik Ebbers\n\nHendrik Ebbers\nhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/hendrik-ebbers/\nHendrik Ebbers is a software engineer and open-source leader based in Germany. He currently serves as Director of Open Source and Technical Steering Committee member for the Hiero project and is a co-chair of the Technical Steering Committee at the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust. Hendrik is also a board member of the Eclipse Foundation\, where he actively contributes to several working groups and steering committees\, including initiatives such as Eclipse Adoptium and Jakarta EE. Through his work\, he focuses on advancing open standards\, strengthening open-source collaboration\, and helping grow sustainable developer ecosystems.

These flights will be comprised of three flights\, including a cross-country flight to Payson\, AZ and will teach students airport pattern work\, maneuvers\, take-offs\, and landings. All flight hours are logbook certified and count toward future aviation goals and future flight certification.\nSimulator Training:Scheduled flights operating our Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATD)\, which are state-of-the-art fixed and full-motion flight simulators\, also under the guidance of a FAA Certified Flight Instructor. These hours are logbook certified and can be applied to future flight certification.\nGround Instruction:Pre-flight preparation and post-flight debriefings led by FAA Certified Flight Instructors\, which feature personalized student instruction. With a student to instructor ratio of 2 to 1 at all times\, students will receive unparalleled individualized attention.\n\nAviation Topics: Interactive sessions covering:\no  Weather\no  Air Traffic Management\no  Safety Analysis\no  Night Operations \no  Cross-Country Operations \nImportant Information\n\nStudents will be flying during day and evening hours and are required to wear closed-toed shoes\, long pants\, and socks covering the ankles during their flight times.\nPer TSA guidelines\, US citizenship is required for a student to participate in this flight training course.\n\n*Flight hours are not guaranteed due to unforeseen circumstances\, such as weather. In the event of a canceled flight\, we will do our absolute best to modify the remaining flights and adjust the schedule to accommodate previously scheduled flight times. \nWho: High School Students ages 14-18 \nWhen: \nAlpha – May 31\, 2026 – June 5\, 2026 \nWhere: Prescott\, Arizona \nTuition: $3520 \n  \nNot for college credit  \nTuition Includes    \nSupervised housing\, on-campus meals\, classroom instruction\, books\, and materials. SUMMARY:Nerding: Minecraft - Build\, Design & Code
DESCRIPTION:Think like an architect\, build like an engineer\, and create like a game designer. In this advanced Minecraft class\, older students will work in a class-only private realm to explore how real-world architecture\, design\, and engineering come together inside the game. They will study architectural styles and famous structures\, then use those ideas to plan and build impressive creations of their own while learning how to make builds feel larger\, smarter\, and more realistic. \nStudents will practice advanced building techniques such as scale\, depth\, texture\, block palettes\, landscaping\, lighting\, and interior design\, along with tips and tricks that help builds look polished and professional. They will also explore redstone circuits\, automation\, hidden features\, and coding concepts that bring their worlds to life. As they design\, test\, and problem-solve\, students will build skills they can use in any Minecraft world\, from creating epic structures to engineering interactive systems with confidence and creativity. \nThis class is perfect for kids who already love Minecraft and are ready to take their skills to the next level through bigger ideas\, better techniques\, and more intentional building. \n  \nGrades 4 – 7 \nJune 1 – 5
