SUMMARY:iD Tech: Roblox Developer - Lua Coding and Game Design
DESCRIPTION:Dive into a versatile game engine built for programmers and game designers alike. Roblox is one of the fastest-growing platforms on the planet\, with more than 100 million players per month exploring games created by enterprising young developers—like you! \nBuild a fundamental programming skill set with Lua\, the official coding language of Roblox\, and create a game as you go. You’ll code unique challenges and custom mechanics like projectiles\, speed boosts\, or a variable score that’ll put your name at the top of the leaderboard. Design a high-speed adventure or enemy horde for your players to conquer! Share your published game with friends on any platform\, from console to mobile\, and you can even earn some Robux in the process with monetized in-game products. Gain experience as a Roblox developer\, and with Lua\, you’ll be ready to extend your pathway to in-demand languages like Python or C#. \nAI Usage\nRoblox’s AI Assistant\, including its Code Assist features\, is a built-in tool for Roblox Studio. Students can use it to troubleshoot their scripts\, generate code snippets or custom 3D models\, or run complex tasks with the Toolbox. Guided by live instructors\, they’ll explore how to utilize these AI features and boost their creativity. \n  \nAges 10 – 12 \nJune 15 – 19

SUMMARY:iD Tech: Mobile Game & App Design Studio
DESCRIPTION:Mobile games generate half of the game design industry’s total revenue. Join this fast-growing field as you create your own mobile game or app! \nYou’ll build a prototype\, design a user interface\, and test it on a portable tablet. Apply UX principles and gather feedback from your peers to make your prototype accessible and user-friendly. Once you’ve created a solid foundation\, integrate functionality and mechanics with GameMaker\, the engine behind Undertale! Concept ideas\, design levels\, and bring your vision to life through engaging gameplay. You’ll start by using built-in visual code to develop custom game mechanics like collectible items. Then\, dive deeper and convert your events to editable code. Transform your idea into a playable touchscreen experience\, whether that’s a cozy virtual pet app\, an exciting action-adventure\, or a monster collection game like Pokémon Go. Your game will open the way to mobile play—you can even bring your own Apple or Android device to experience it on! \nRequires iOS 13.0 / Android 5.0 or later for personal devices. \n  \nAges 13 – 17 \nJune 15 – 19

SUMMARY:Nerding: Sphero - Robotics & Programming
DESCRIPTION:Code it. Race it. Roll into robotics. In this high-energy\, delightfully nerdy class\, students will use Sphero robots to explore coding\, engineering\, and problem-solving through fast-paced\, hands-on challenges. Using block-based programming\, they will control speed\, direction\, colors\, and sounds as they send their robots through mazes\, obstacle courses\, precision missions\, and creative builds that feel part robotics lab\, part arcade\, and part science experiment. \nAs their skills level up\, students will tackle increasingly awesome projects like maze competitions\, robo-car washes\, and even a rubber ducky chariot engineered for a giant gym race. Along the way\, they will learn coding fundamentals\, sequencing\, troubleshooting\, control\, and design strategy while experimenting\, testing\, adjusting\, and trying again like real robotics engineers. This class is perfect for kids who love to tinker\, race\, build\, and figure out how things work\, especially if they think robots should be both smart and ridiculously fun. \n  \nGrades 4 – 7 \nJune 15 – June 19

SUMMARY:Nerding: Robotics
DESCRIPTION:In this super fun class\, we’ll play with different kinds of robots. We have the lil’ Ozobots\, who can follow lines and do cool tricks when they drive over different colors. Then there’s the speedy Indi robots\, who zip around as they drive over special color tiles. And let’s not forget about Dash\, the robot you can program using block coding with an iPad! \nBut that’s not all! We’ll also build our very own robots called ‘BrushBots.’ They’re made from a small motor\, battery\, and a toothbrush. Wiggly BrushBots love to run around and will NOT listen to any directions you give them! But guess what? You get to take your BrushBot home with you! \nEvery day\, we’ll have new challenges and projects to work on. You’ll get to solve puzzles\, learn how to code\, and even create your own robot theme park! \n  \nGrades 1 – 3 \nJune 15 – June 19

SUMMARY:Nerding: 3D Printing & Design with TinkerCAD (Beginning to Intermediate)
DESCRIPTION:3D Printing is Nerding’s all time most popular class! Nerds love to take this class over and over\, so we are now regularly changing projects to keep things fresh and challenging for returning nerds. Also\, we have 6 brand new printers that are literally 4x faster! \nIn this fun hands-on class\, nerds will craft 3D models using intuitive CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software tailored for kids. From concept to creation\, they’ll master the printing process\, witnessing their designs materialize layer by layer before their eyes\, and proudly take home their masterpiece. \nBut it’s not just about crafting cool gadgets — it’s about the journey of discovery. Alongside honing math and spatial reasoning skills essential for navigating the 3D design landscape\, nerds will explore the applications of 3D printing. From prosthetics enhancing lives to constructing homes and even venturing to space\, discover how this technology is shaping tomorrow’s world. \n  \nGrades 4 – 7 \nJune 15 – June 19

SUMMARY:Nerding: Advanced 3D Printing & Design with Blender
DESCRIPTION:Step up from TinkerCAD into professional 3D modeling with Blender\, the free\, industry-standard software used by real artists\, game designers\, and animators. Design characters\, objects\, and scenes\, and take home a 3D print of your creation. \nFor students ready to go beyond TinkerCAD\, this class introduces Blender\, the same free\, open-source 3D modeling software used by professional artists\, game developers\, and animators. Students learn to navigate 3D space\, model with meshes and vertices\, use path tools for organic shapes\, apply modifiers\, and understand concepts like topology and computational complexity. \nStudents who have maxed out TinkerCAD’s capabilities will find Blender opens up a whole new world of creative control with real curves\, precise vertex editing\, and professional-grade tools. Projects culminate in at least one 3D print you will take home\, while other designs will be more experimental and complex digital renders. \n  \nGrades 6 – 9 \nJune 15 – June 19
