SUMMARY:The University of Arizona: Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab Tour
DESCRIPTION:Explore the cutting-edge of astronomical innovation on this 90-minute guided tour of the Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab at the University of Arizona. Learn how pioneering engineering\, optical science\, and precision manufacturing come together to create the world’s largest and most advanced telescope mirrors—each 8.4 meters (27 feet) in diameter. \nLocated beneath the U of A’s football stadium\, the Mirror Lab is the birthplace of mirrors for the Giant Magellan Telescope\, a revolutionary new instrument with a 25-meter primary mirror composed of seven of our 8.4-meter segments. This next generation of telescopes will transform astronomy—probing the early universe\, revealing the formation of the first stars\, and potentially detecting signs of life on distant exoplanets. \nThe tour begins at the historic Steward Observatory\, U of A’s first research department\, established in 1917. After an introductory presentation in our iconic white-brick dome\, we’ll walk to the Mirror Lab for an up-close look at the unique processes involved—from melting glass to precision polishing and optical testing. \nJoin us and discover how the University of Arizona is shaping the future of space exploration and astronomical discovery.

SUMMARY:Embry - Riddle Aeronautical University: Junior Individualized Flight Training Summer Camp [Alpha]
DESCRIPTION:Introducing Junior Individualized Flight Training (J-IFT) Summer Program – Our newly designed former Expo Flight camp. \nThe J-IFT Summer Program is a hands-on\, personalized\, and individually focused 5-day immersion to aviation for students ages 14-18. Created to match the collegiate flight training environment – dedicated personalized instructor assigned to no more than 2 students – it is the most realistic experience in terms of how flight training “really works”. Designed to inspire the next generation of aviators\, this program combines live flight training\, simulator sessions\, and expert ground instruction on a finely tuned extract of the key elements contained in the FAA Private Pilot Airman Certification Standards.\n \nProgram Highlights\n\nFlight Training:Scheduled flights operating a Cessna 172 “Skyhawk” equipped with Garmin G1000 advanced avionics\, alongside a FAA Certified Flight Instructor. These flights will be comprised of three flights\, including a cross-country flight to Payson\, AZ and will teach students airport pattern work\, maneuvers\, take-offs\, and landings. All flight hours are logbook certified and count toward future aviation goals and future flight certification.\nSimulator Training:Scheduled flights operating our Advanced Aviation Training Devices (AATD)\, which are state-of-the-art fixed and full-motion flight simulators\, also under the guidance of a FAA Certified Flight Instructor. These hours are logbook certified and can be applied to future flight certification.\nGround Instruction:Pre-flight preparation and post-flight debriefings led by FAA Certified Flight Instructors\, which feature personalized student instruction. With a student to instructor ratio of 2 to 1 at all times\, students will receive unparalleled individualized attention.\n\nAviation Topics: Interactive sessions covering:\no  Weather\no  Air Traffic Management\no  Safety Analysis\no  Night Operations \no  Cross-Country Operations \nImportant Information\n\nStudents will be flying during day and evening hours and are required to wear closed-toed shoes\, long pants\, and socks covering the ankles during their flight times.\nPer TSA guidelines\, US citizenship is required for a student to participate in this flight training course.\n\n*Flight hours are not guaranteed due to unforeseen circumstances\, such as weather. In the event of a canceled flight\, we will do our absolute best to modify the remaining flights and adjust the schedule to accommodate previously scheduled flight times. \nWho: High School Students ages 14-18 \nWhen: \nAlpha – May 31\, 2026 – June 5\, 2026 \nWhere: Prescott\, Arizona \nTuition: $3520 \n  \nNot for college credit  \nTuition Includes    \nSupervised housing\, on-campus meals\, classroom instruction\, books\, and materials. SUMMARY:Nerding: Electric Inventions - with MaKey-MaKey
DESCRIPTION:Dive into the electrifying world of circuits and unleash your inner inventor as we explore the magic of electricity! In Electric Inventions\, get ready to roll up your sleeves and do some hands-on experimentation with wire\, copper tape\, LEDs\, motors\, and batteries. \nBut that’s not all — we’ll also introduce you to an awesome tool called Makey Makey! Think of Makey Makey like having an external computer keyboard with all the keys ripped off so you can explore the circuits underneath. Then you can attach things to those circuits and make the keys… WEIRD! With Makey Makey\, you’ll discover the power of conductivity as you transform everyday materials into interactive inputs for your computer. \nImagine playing a piano made out of bananas\, controlling games with gummy worms\, or even turning your classmates into human keys — the possibilities are limited only by your imagination! \n  \nGrades 4 – 7 \nJune 1 – 5

SUMMARY:Nerding: Minecraft - Build\, Design & Code
DESCRIPTION:Think like an architect\, build like an engineer\, and create like a game designer. In this advanced Minecraft class\, older students will work in a class-only private realm to explore how real-world architecture\, design\, and engineering come together inside the game. They will study architectural styles and famous structures\, then use those ideas to plan and build impressive creations of their own while learning how to make builds feel larger\, smarter\, and more realistic. \nStudents will practice advanced building techniques such as scale\, depth\, texture\, block palettes\, landscaping\, lighting\, and interior design\, along with tips and tricks that help builds look polished and professional. They will also explore redstone circuits\, automation\, hidden features\, and coding concepts that bring their worlds to life. As they design\, test\, and problem-solve\, students will build skills they can use in any Minecraft world\, from creating epic structures to engineering interactive systems with confidence and creativity. \nThis class is perfect for kids who already love Minecraft and are ready to take their skills to the next level through bigger ideas\, better techniques\, and more intentional building. \n  \nGrades 4 – 7 \nJune 1 – 5
