Are Monarchs Endangered?
Gail Morris

These iconic butterflies are in the news often and usually cast with a troubling future. In this talk, Gail will take us on a journey through the life-cycle dynamics of monarchs, recent annual population counts, and how you can help monarchs and other pollinators flourish. She’ll also explain the recent IUCN change of status for monarchs and the Fish & Wildlife standing for monarchs under the Endangered Species Act.

Gail Morris has been researching monarch butterflies since 2006 and volunteers as a board member of the Central Arizona Butterfly Association and several monarch organizations. She is the Coordinator of the Southwest Monarch Study and regularly writes for Journey North’s Western Monarch Updates during the migration and has authored several monarch publications. Gail dedicates her time training Community Scientists to participate in monarch research, education, and conservation.
