Glendale Public Library: Nutrition on a Budget Part 1 – MyPlate

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a program designed to assist families with children in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior to improve the family’s lifestyle and nutritional well-being.

Join Jose Gamiz, an EFNEP Instructional Specialist as he teaches us

how to:

  • Improve family nutrition and health
    ·Increase physical activity
    · Increase consumption of fruits and vegetables and foods high in calcium
    · Reduce the consumption of foods high in fat, sodium and sugar
    · Reduce food costs through alternate sources of high protein foods
  • Buy food wisely using food labels to determine nutritional content
    ·Plan food needs before shopping and use the MyPlate as a guide
    ·  Handle food properly and improve sanitation
    ·  Plan meals
  • Manage Portion Control
