Engineering For Kids of Phoenix Metro Summer Camp @ Mavrix Entertainment in Scottsdale: Creative App Development and Minecraft: A Galacticraft Journey (Grades 3 – 8)

App design has exploded over the past 5 years due to lower entry costs and easier access to essential tools, so give your engineer the knowledge to stay ahead in today’s technological society.

With Bitsbox, we’re offering a unique experience in which campers get to code, test, and create their own apps in real time using an easy-to-understand format. This camper-guided program offers kids of any experience level an open-ended environment for creating exactly what they want. The best part about this week is that they’ll be able to save their created apps right to their (or your own) devices for play anywhere, anytime!

PM Session: Minecraft: A Galacticraft Journey

Going back to our roots and running off our own private servers, this week will immerse campers in a fascinating intersection of aerospace science and civil engineering: the design of extraterrestrial structures! Using a modified version of Minecraft, campers will be challenged to design and build a self-sustaining habitat for themselves on the Moon. Campers will use the Engineering Design Process to work through a simulated version of the challenges real-world engineers and scientists face for space travel and habitation, all in the familiar setting of a game they love!

Regarding Health

The health and well being of your child, our staff, and the public has always been our top concern in running camps. We want you to rest assured that we’re taking many precautions to keep your child safe. These steps include but not limited to:

  • greatly lowered enrollment caps to ensure proper distancing in our camp spaces (8-12 students, size depends on classroom space)
  • sanitizing touch-points and camp materials routinely
  • staff and campers sanitizing hands frequently
  • staff mandated to wear face masks
  • monitoring facility capacity & policies prior to taking a break (entertainment facilities only)
